djay Light-Table: Low-cost Interactive Musical Surface

Using a Nintendo Wii Remote (Wiimote) and a projector you can turn any surface into an interactive musical DJ tool. This video demonstrates algoriddim’s Mac DJ software “djay” — http://www.djay-software.com — on a MacBook Pro, projected onto a glass table.
I used an IR light source strapped to my finger with a push button switch to activate mouse clicks. The wiimote can track the position of my finger using Johnny Lee’s famous Wiimote software: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/

PlayStation Move or Nintendo Wii? Comparison.
As you may of heard, the PlayStation Move has come out.
It will use advanced motion sensors and the PlayStation®Eye Camera.
Sony announced that PlayStation Move will support 3D.
The PlayStation Move will be just like the Nintendo Wii;
The only difference is that the PlayStation Move will have a PlayStation®Eye Camera instead of a Sensor Bar.
We don’t know many games that are going to support the PlayStation Move, but these are the games we do know at the moment… Sports Champion, The Shoot, Slider, TV Superstars, Move Party, Motion Fighter, The Fight.
The PlayStation Move is a remote-like motion-sensitive controller with a sphere at the end. The sub-controller is an off-hand controller being offered for some Move games. The Move controller connects to the PS3 with the help of a PlayStation Eye camera, which detects the Move’s colored sphere, while tilt sensors in the move transmit their position data to the PS3.
The differences between the Nintendo Wii and the PlayStation move are:
1. Playstation Move has fewer buttons.
2. Playstation Move has a smarter controller.
3. PlayStation move has no wires between the two controllers.
4. PlayStation Move has no off-hand gyro.

Head Tracking for Desktop VR Displays using the WiiRemote

Using the infrared camera in the Wii remote and a head mounted sensor bar (two IR LEDs), you can accurately track the location of your head and render view dependent images on the screen. This effectively transforms your display into a portal to a virtual environment. DSi XL Going to Cost HOW MUCH?! (55/365)

•The new Nintendo DSi XL hand-held system launches March 28 at a suggested retail price of $189.99. The screens of the Nintendo DSi XL are 93 percent larger than those of the Nintendo DS Lite model, providing a more vivid and engaging play experience. The screens of the Nintendo DSi XL also feature a wider viewing angle.
•Super Mario Galaxy 2, the sequel to the smash-hit galaxy-hopping original game, launches May 23 for the Wii console.
•Metroid: Other M, the incredible new Metroid game developed for Wii through a collaboration by Nintendo and the world-renowned Team Ninja, launches June 27.
•In a unique partnership with Square-Enix, Nintendo of America will publish Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies in the Americas when the game arrives in summer 2010.
•Capcoms Monster Hunter® Tri, an epic action game for Wii, launches in the United States on April 20.
•Sin and Punishment: Star Successor, the breakthrough shooter game for Wii from legendary developer Treasure, will launch across North America on June 7.

The Price of Kinect (201/365)

Other than mental and physical damage the Kinect will cost $150 and its games will cost $50. Kinect Adventures will be bundled with Kinect units.
Microsoft released information on the new Xbox 360 Arcade unit that will be 4GB with WiFi N. It is coming out on August 3. A bundle of the Arcade unit, Kinect, and Kinect Adventures is coming at on November 4 for $300.

Nintendo 3DS Release Date and Wii Remote Plus

In this video I take a look at the details of the Nintendo 3DS including pricing information, release date and several of it’s unique features including support via the Virtual Console for Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games in addition to allowing you to create your own Mii by taking a picture of yourself. The Nintendo 3DS will be released February 26, 2011 in Japan and March 2011 in Europe and USA. No word on how much it will cost for Europe and USA yet but it will be priced at ¥25,000 in Japan which is the equivalent of about $300 US dollars.
Nintendo also announced that they would be releasing the Wii Remote Plus, a version of the Wii Remote that has the Wii Motion Plus built in. No word on when it will be released or at what price.
